Why You Need to Get Angry to Change Your Life

There's something I feel most "gurus" out there or people who have "figured it out" in life rarely talk about: Anger. And most importantly, how important, valuable, and crucial anger is to healing, changing your life, and finally living your truth. So often, anger is spoken about as a problem. People go to anger "management" where the point basically seems to be "don't feel angry."

When I was little, being angry meant I was being "difficult and demanding." It meant I was told to go away until I felt "better" or were easier to "deal with." Feeling angry led to isolation, belittling, and ridicule because "only those of us who are young, immature, not emotionally "evolved" feel angry."

Yet, I call bullshit on all of it.

Anyone who acts like that doesn't have a healthy relationship with anger, let alone their feelings and humanity. And I'm so sorry if you've heard disempowering stories around anger too. Most women or feminine people have.

It's a way patriarchy can keep women controlled, silent by taking away their power to speak up, to go against what isolates and discriminates, by acting as if we're the problem. We're "emotional."

To that I say: Well yea, I am emotional. So are you dude. You've just got a really unhealthy and toxic relationship with your emotions and humanity in which you are so afraid of what you feel that you've learned to pretend you don't feel at all.

I often say, if I presented a super complicated mathematic equation to someone and they said "nope, can't figure it out" and ran away... would you consider them the "expert?" Probably not, right?

So we must stop considering those who pretend like their humanity is a weakness the experts and start recognizing the power we already have within us.

And you know what I've recognized in my own life? Getting angry is what creates change. What allows me to heal, break old patterns, change generational cycles, advocate for equality. It's what moves me forward, not what holds me back.

That's why I often get angry on a daily basis. I even have a playlist with songs that tap into the power of rage. Because when recognizing the web of lies society has created that keeps women submissive, silent, playing small, being "nice..." it pisses me off.

And that moves me forward to do something about it.

To change how I lead my own life, how I treat myself, my body, my soul. How I show up with those I love. Whether I continue my mother's abusive patterns or I change them. Make sure my kids never feel the way I did growing up.

But that takes work. It takes willingness to see things differently than what we're told all the time. To choose differently than others do sometimes. And, to get angry enough to fuel ourselves forward when the world screams "get into place, stay quiet, don't disturb "the peace."

So in this episode, I'm asking why aren't you claiming the life you want? What's actually holding you back from making real changes? I discuss how choosing you over "keeping the peace" or fitting in with others and reconnecting with anger as a form of activating you to take action is crucial when you want to create the life you want and make the impact you desire.

If you're feeling pulled to live life on your terms, this episode is for you.
